To make SuiteCRM useful for customer support and call centre teams, Asterisk is the bridge that turns a CRM into a working contact-centre platform — handling both inbound and outbound calls inside the same interface agents already use for accounts and cases. Redian Software delivers seamless SuiteCRM integration with Asterisk telephony and IPBX systems, packaged as a deployable extension on top of any SuiteCRM edition.
What the Integration Does
The Asterisk bridge surfaces telephony events directly inside SuiteCRM so agents never have to switch screens mid-call:
- Call popup — for incoming and outgoing calls, with the option to open the matching contact record or edit call details. The popup checks Caller ID against the Contacts, Accounts and Leads modules so the agent sees who is calling before they pick up.
- Click-to-call from Contacts, Accounts and Leads — outbound calls launched in a single click, with the call automatically logged against the record.
- Complete call logs with automatic relations on Leads and Contacts, plus automatic user assignment so reporting reflects which agent handled which conversation.
- Compatible with any version and any edition of SuiteCRM — Community, Professional or Enterprise.
- Direct links to call recording files attached to each call log, supporting audit and quality-review workflows.
Why Telephony Integration Still Matters
More than a decade on, the case for tightly coupled CRM-telephony is, if anything, stronger. Whether a contact centre is running Asterisk on-premises, a hosted IPBX, or a modern cloud-based PBX, the same fundamentals apply — agents need context before they answer, every interaction needs to land on the customer record automatically, and supervisors need recordings tied to the call log for coaching and compliance.
Redian Software has continued to extend its telephony integration work across customer-service deployments in banking and financial services(/solutions/bfsi), insurance, and outsourced contact centres. Our SuiteCRM practice(/expertise/crm/suitecrm) now covers seven extensions published on the SuiteCRM Store, and the Asterisk bridge is one of the patterns we deploy most often inside broader CRM and ERP implementation(/services/crm-erp-implementation) engagements.
For teams running SuiteCRM today and still toggling between a CRM tab and a softphone, the integration described in this 2017 note remains a quick win — typically a matter of weeks rather than months to deploy and tune. Readers ready to scope the work can get in touch(/contact).
