Service overview

In depth — how this practice runs.

The long-form view of what we build, how we sequence it, and the stacks we run.

When in-house hiring is too slow

Your roadmap is real. Your hiring funnel is not. Staff augmentation is how mature engineering organizations extend bandwidth without compromising standards.

How we do it

  • We screen for senior engineers, architects, QA leads, SREs, mobile and CRM specialists.
  • Every candidate is technical-interviewed by Redian principals before you ever speak to them.
  • You interview the final shortlist; you make the call.
  • Engineers join under your processes, your ceremonies and your code review bar.

What you get

  • Time zone overlap with India, Kenya and the UAE — pick what works for you.
  • Two-week ramp, two-week notice — no annual contracts.
  • Backfills inside two weeks if a teammate isn't working out.

Roles we place often

Java/Spring backend, Node.js + TypeScript, Python/Django, React / Next.js, Mobile (Android/iOS/React Native), DevOps (AWS/GCP/Azure/Kubernetes), QA Automation, Salesforce/Zoho/Odoo/SuiteCRM consultants, Solution Architects.

Engagement models we run

IT staff augmentation is not one product. It is a family of engagement shapes, each with different accounting, control and commitment characteristics. We run the four models below — and we will actively recommend the one that fits your risk profile, not the one that maximises our margin.

  • Time & materials, single engineer — you pay for engineer-days worked, one senior engineer plugged into your team. Best for augmenting an existing squad with a specific missing capability (senior SRE, ML engineer, Salesforce architect).
  • Time & materials, small squad (3–8 engineers) — a Redian-led sub-team plugged into your engineering org, still under your product management and code review. Best for a bounded project scope with unclear duration.
  • Dedicated pod (10–30 engineers) — a Redian-badged pod running an entire product surface for you. Includes a Redian tech lead, engineering manager and scrum master. Best for a multi-year build where you want speed without hiring locally.
  • GCC seed-and-transition — Redian seeds and runs the team while your India entity is being set up, then engineers transition to your captive with retention bonuses funded into the engagement. Schedule and phasing are agreed against your actual entity setup and headcount ramp, documented in the MSA. Best when you have committed to owning the capability long-term.

Every engagement is documented in the MSA — including the exit path. You are never trapped in the arrangement.

Seniority levels and how we mix them

Our engagement leads calibrate the seniority mix per role. Standard levels:

  • Junior engineer (0–3 yrs) — used sparingly, only in pods with strong senior mentorship. Not offered as isolated staff aug.
  • Mid engineer (3–6 yrs) — the workhorse layer. Independent on well-scoped work, needs light architectural direction.
  • Senior engineer (6–10 yrs) — Redian's default staff-aug placement. Owns complex features end-to-end, mentors mid engineers, reviews architecture.
  • Staff / principal (10+ yrs) — for platform, distributed systems, security-critical or regulator-facing work. Priced accordingly.
  • Engineering manager / tech lead — squad leadership when you want Redian-managed delivery rather than plug-and-play engineers.
  • Solution architect — pre-engagement architecture, technical due diligence, integration design. Often included in scoping at no extra cost for larger engagements.

Retention, backfill and the honesty about attrition

India IT industry average attrition sits at 15–20% per year. Redian's blended engineer tenure on client engagements runs materially above this — most engineers on active engagements have been with Redian for 3+ years, and engagement-level attrition tends to be 8–12% per year rather than 20%.

Why the gap matters commercially: every engineer replacement costs you 4–8 weeks of ramp-loss. If your vendor's actual engagement attrition is 25%, one in every four engineers you interview and onboard will need re-interviewing and re-onboarding inside 12 months. That is a real cost your CFO should see modelled before contracting.

Redian's backfill guarantee: two-week replacement window, no ramp-cost billed to you, retention bonuses on engagements over 18 months where the client agrees to fund them.

Security, IP and compliance framing

  • IP assignment — executed via each engineer's employment agreement with Redian, then automatically extended to you under the MSA. Clean chain of title. No individual engineer contractor patchwork.
  • Confidentiality — every Redian engineer signs a mutual NDA on onboarding, extended to your specific engagement scope on assignment. Breach carries employment consequences.
  • Access controls — engineers work from Redian-managed devices with disk encryption, MDM, security software and audit logging. VDI or client-managed device options available on request.
  • Data protection — engagement design follows the stricter of client-side and delivery-jurisdiction requirements (GDPR, POPIA, DPA Kenya, DPDP India, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2 as required).
  • CMMI Level 3 Appraised + ISO Certified — process maturity your compliance team can audit against. Not a slogan; both certifications carry annual audits.

Industry verticals we deploy into

  • Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) — the largest single vertical in Redian's book. Core banking, digital channels, loan management, insurance policy administration, claims, regulator-facing reporting (RBI, CBK, SASRA, FCA, APRA, DNB).
  • Healthcare and life sciences — patient CRM, insurance claims workflow, pharma-adjacent IT.
  • Retail and D2C — Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify Plus, Zoho Commerce, Odoo POS, omnichannel loyalty and fulfilment.
  • Telecom and infrastructure — B2B customer management, provisioning, billing integration, network-adjacent IT.
  • SaaS and product engineering — long-lived product teams that scale headcount up and down with roadmap demand.
  • Government-adjacent and public-sector enterprise — where source-code ownership, data residency and delivery discipline are non-negotiable.

Cost economics — what actually moves the number

Fully-loaded onshore engineer cost in most Western markets sits at $150–260K per year including benefits, taxes, hiring cost, tooling, seat cost and management overhead. Redian's blended global-bench engagement typically delivers equivalent seniority at 35–55% lower total spend — but the delta depends on three drivers:

  • Seniority mix — heavier senior / staff mix narrows the gap; heavier mid mix widens it.
  • Onshore overlap requirement — client-hour engagement leads and named on-ground consultants add cost. Pure offshore is cheapest; blended onshore-offshore sits in the middle.
  • Vertical / regulatory premium — BFSI, healthcare and defense-adjacent engagements carry a modest premium for compliance overhead. Standard SaaS and retail work sits at the lower rate band.

We publish rate ranges by seniority upfront. No mystery pricing, no MSA-then-quote-later.

Common mistakes we see buyers make

  • Buying by hourly rate alone. A $20/hr engineer who needs re-onboarding every 8 months costs you more than a $45/hr engineer who stays for 3 years. Model retention, not just rate.
  • Under-scoping onboarding. First-30-day productivity depends on device provisioning, security onboarding, IP-paperwork, and knowledge transfer. Budget 2 weeks of ramp per engineer, not zero.
  • Skipping the technical vet. Marketplaces list engineers based on self-attested skills. Insist on interviewing every proposed engineer with your own technical bar — Redian encourages this because our screening survives it.
  • Treating staff aug as project delivery. Staff aug augments YOUR engineering — you still own product decisions, code review, and release management. If you need a vendor to own delivery outcomes, ask for a dedicated pod or fixed-price engagement, not staff aug.
  • No documented exit path. Cheap now, expensive later. Every Redian engagement documents transition-out steps in the MSA — either wind-down or captive-transition. If your current vendor cannot describe how they exit, that is a red flag.

Why Redian

What makes us different.

Independent reasons clients pick us over Big-4 firms, boutique agencies and offshore vendors.

  • Senior-only mix

No bench-warmers and no 1-year-experience engineers labelled 'senior'. Our average engineer has 8+ years of production experience.

  • Vetted by delivery principals

Three-stage technical screening (coding, system design, domain) signed off by our delivery principals — not a recruiter.

  • BFSI heritage since 2016

Regulator-aware engineers who have shipped in banking, insurance and lending — not generalists learning on your dime.

  • No lock-in, no annual contracts

Two-week notice in either direction after the first 3 months. You scale up or down based on real demand, not contract terms.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you wanted to ask before the first call.

Don't see your question? Ask us directly →

How fast can you place engineers on our team?

Standard ramp is 2 weeks from brief to placed engineer. For common roles (Java/Spring, Node.js, React, DevOps) we have pre-vetted candidates ready to interview within 48 hours. Niche roles (specific BFSI domains, ML specialisations) typically take 3–4 weeks.

What's the minimum engagement and notice period?

Minimum 3-month engagement per engineer, then 2-week notice either direction. No annual contracts, no lock-in. Many of our clients run the same engineers for 2+ years — by choice, not contract.

Are engineers dedicated to us or shared across clients?

Engineers are 100% dedicated to one client. Time, focus, attendance and ceremonies are all yours. Our delivery lead may oversee multiple clients, but the engineers building your product are exclusively on your team.

How do you vet candidates?

Three-stage technical screening before you ever see a CV — coding exercise, system design conversation, and a domain-specific round (BFSI, AI/ML, etc.). Our delivery principals personally sign off on every senior placement. You then run your own final interview.

What happens if a placement isn't working out?

Two-week replacement guarantee. If an engineer doesn't fit your team within the first 30 days, we replace at no cost and absorb the ramp-up time. Past that window, normal 2-week notice applies in either direction.

What time zones can you cover?

India (IST · overlaps with Europe and Middle East), Kenya (EAT · overlaps with Europe and Middle East), UAE (GST · overlaps with Europe), USA Atlanta (EST · overlaps with Americas), UK (GMT). Mix-and-match by engineer to get the overlap your team needs.

Is this cheaper than hiring direct?

Typically yes — we eliminate the 90-day hiring cycle, benefits overhead, payroll admin and the cost of bad hires. But the bigger win is speed-to-delivery and flexibility (scale up or down on 2-week notice). Most clients run a mix of direct hires and Redian engineers.

Do engineers join our standups, Jira and code review?

Yes. Engineers join your standups, your Jira, your Slack, your code-review gates and your release cadence. They behave exactly like your in-house engineers — because that's the point. The only difference is HR and continuity sit with us.
