Why Bradford International Alliance needed a custom LMS

Bradford International Alliance (BIA) is a Sharjah-headquartered global education consultant that connects working professionals with degree and specialised programmes from partner universities across the world. The academy carries the "Tradition of Excellence" mark, is ACBSP-affiliated, and reaches learners across more than twenty countries — the UAE, wider GCC, Africa, and South & Southeast Asia — with Bachelor, Master, Doctorate (PhD, DBA) and specialised tracks such as C-Suite AI.

That reach is the point — and it was also the problem. An off-the-shelf learning platform could not model BIA's academic ladder from Diploma through PhD, could not carry the multi-university course catalogue BIA curates on behalf of its partners, and could not present a branded, alliance-first learning experience to a learner base spread across 50+ nationalities and multiple time zones. BIA needed a learning platform that felt like their platform end-to-end, and that could evolve with the pipeline of programmes, cohorts, faculty, and accreditation partners they add every term.

What Redian built

A learner experience designed around a working professional. Course discovery is organised the way a returning MBA candidate or a mid-career PhD aspirant actually browses — by degree level, by discipline, by instructor. Each course carries structured video pathways, live-session slots, downloadable resources, and progress tracking, so a learner in Dubai and a learner in Nairobi share the same room without either feeling second-class.

An instructor workspace that respects academic craft. Faculty publish courses with their own bios, sequence video lessons into pathways, run live sessions, and grade assessments — with the editorial control an academic institution needs. Course pages surface the instructor's identity and credentials so learners always know who is teaching them, not just what.

An administration console for the alliance. BIA's team manages the programme catalogue, cohort enrolments, faculty onboarding, learner accounts, and content moderation from one control plane — the workflows that actually run an education business, not a generic content-authoring tool.

Live sessions, recorded sessions, and self-paced pathways in one catalogue. Blended learning is the norm for professionals who cannot commit to a fixed classroom schedule. The platform treats live cohort sessions, recorded video pathways, and self-paced content as first-class citizens of the same course, so BIA's programme designers can pick the delivery mix that fits each subject.

Search, categorisation, and discovery built for a growing catalogue. As BIA adds programmes and instructors, learners keep finding the right course by degree level, subject, or instructor — search and categorisation were designed for a catalogue that grows, not one that ships fixed at launch.

How we approached the build

• Discovery with the academic leadership — mapped the programme ladder (Diploma → Bachelor → Master → DBA → PhD), the roles inside the alliance, and the delivery formats the catalogue needed to carry, before writing a line of code.
• Wire-frame + interaction prototype first — signed off with BIA's team so the learner and instructor journeys were resolved before UI polish began.
• Iterative build, module by module — course catalogue, then instructor tooling, then live-session and video pathway support, then the administration console, then account and access flows. Each module went in front of BIA's team as it was ready.
• Cloud-hosted from day one — the platform runs on cloud infrastructure so learners from twenty-plus countries get consistent performance without BIA carrying a data-centre bill.
• Handover with documentation and training — the BIA team took over day-to-day operation with runbooks, admin walkthroughs, and Redian on standby for ongoing enhancements.
