Executive summary
InsureMe is a Kenya-based digital insurance aggregator and brokerage taking on a market with low insurance penetration and complicated distribution. Redian Software built their end-to-end platform — multi-insurer policy comparison, secure M-Pesa payment processing, real-time policy generation, e-KYC with NTSA and KRA verification, and a full broker back-office. The migration from a legacy platform was completed on schedule.
About the client
InsureMe is a Kenya-based digital insurance aggregator and brokerage, helping consumers compare and buy policies across multiple insurers — bringing insurance literacy and access to a market with historically low penetration.
The challenge
The Kenyan insurance market has low penetration and significant friction at every step: consumers don't know how to compare products, policies take days to issue, payment carries fraud risk, and endorsements/cancellations are complicated paper processes. InsureMe's previous platform couldn't support the experience the team wanted to offer.
- Low penetration rate in the insurance sector
- Inadequate insurance literacy among consumers
- Difficulty selecting appropriate insurance products
- Extended policy generation waiting times
- Fraud risks during policy payment processing
- Complicated endorsement and cancellation procedures
- No renewal notification systems
- Barriers to streamlined customer onboarding
Our approach
Redian designed and built the platform end-to-end on Angular + Node.js + MySQL. We integrated multiple insurers' product feeds for live comparison, M-Pesa and Lipa PolePole for secure payment, NTSA and KRA APIs for identity verification, and a broker-facing back office for endorsements, cancellations and reporting. Real-time policy generation closes the gap between purchase and protection.

Why this matters
Insurance penetration in much of Africa hovers in low single digits — not because consumers don't need coverage, but because the journey from awareness to bound policy is broken. Aggregator platforms collapse that journey into minutes. The platforms that win are the ones that combine product comparison, mobile-native payment and verified onboarding without compromising any of the three.
What this unlocked
InsureMe customers can now compare and buy policies in a single mobile session. Brokers manage their book of business from one back-office instead of separate systems per insurer. The platform is ready for additional product categories (health, travel, life) and additional African markets.
