Project description

Our client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will work closely with other engineers of varying disciplines (DevOps, QA, Front-End ReactJS), product managers, as well as other parts of the organization. You will craft applications in Java/Kotlin, leveraging AWS, CircleCI, and Terraform. We are always looking to adopt modern technology to solve business challenges.

What you'll do

  • Build features and solutions to collect, moderate, and deliver user-generated content to customers.
  • Become an expert on multiple solutions and areas of the codebase, while understanding the larger architecture of our entire suite of solutions.
  • Participate in technical brainstorming and knowledge-transfer sessions; provide technical advice at team and department level.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, product managers, UX designers, operations, and other development teams to build a holistic experience.
  • Proactively identify pain points and potential issues within our architecture and code base, and tackle tech debt.
  • Contribute to each step of the product development process — ideation, design, planning, architecture, build, infrastructure, testing, release, and maintenance.
  • Participate, build, and implement department CI/CD, application monitoring, security, and general developer tooling initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of full-stack application development in Kotlin/Java on AWS.
  • 5+ years developing APIs for front-end applications.
  • 5+ years of strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and large data sets.
  • 2+ years leveraging and maintaining CI/CD tooling (CircleCI, Drone, GitHub Actions).
  • 2+ years leveraging infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • 1+ years of experience with event-driven development (SQS, SNS, Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub) and idempotent patterns.
  • Experience with source control tools such as Git.

Nice to have

  • Experience with automated database DDL (Liquibase, Flyway).
  • Experience with object stores (AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, GCP Cloud Storage) and/or document stores (AWS DynamoDB, MongoDB, NoSQL).
  • Experience building containerized applications (Docker) and deploying them to orchestrators (AWS ECS, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm).
